PUSH ME, I’m Close to the Edge

Luke 4:28-30 says When they heard this, the people in the synagogue were furious. Jumping up, they mobbed him and forced him to the edge of the hill on which the town was built. They intended to push him over the cliff, but he passed right through the crowd and went on his way.

We went over this verse in church. And my pastor was explaining how they didn’t kill Jesus immediately, they pushed Him to the edge instead.

He further explained:

“The enemy uses the Edge to see if you will let pressure push you OUT of position!”

“The edge is where the enemy applies

(E)xternal pressures

(D)esigned to displace you from a

(G)od given position that was

(E)stablished by assignment.”

Because as I am learning, the devil has no real power over us. He has only the control that we allow him to have. And when he can’t take us out, he tries to convince us to walk out. He tries to convince us that whatever we are going through, it’s somehow way too much for us to handle!

But just as Jesus did, show the enemy (and them) that what worked on others doesn’t work on us. That we are indeed well equipped for ANY and ALL circumstances because we have God on our team. Because when God is for you, who can be against you?

Therefore, we don’t have to give up. We don’t have to give in to the pressure. And we probably should stop over extending ourselves, and release control over the things that God never asked us to manage in the first place. Because if we are being real, a lot of times that pressure we feel comes from things that were not assigned to us by God. In fact, sometimes we just need to let go (or “let them”) and walk in obedience.

My pastor also said:
“But when you do get to the edge, you should be SHOUTING because that’s proof that you are on the verge of something!”

Because remember, “the devil doesn’t push people who are not destined to edges, he leaves them alone! And if you are who you say you are, the edge is where you will find yourself.”

Therefore, embrace the edge – the hard things such as when people resist you, misunderstand you, or even oppose you! Because if the enemy isn’t attacking us, it’s because he believes he already has us. And if that’s the case, he then believes he doesn’t need to convince nor trick us out of our spots! You are not even a bother to him.

But for those of us he hasn’t tricked – those struggling to stand firm in faith (because lets be real, sometimes standing in faith gets tough) and more than likely standing on the edge — he has to work overtime to find creative solutions to make you fail. And what better way to do that than to convince YOU that you can’t do something; or better yet, convince you that you should carry something unassigned to you while hoping that the pressure will push you to the edge and finally break you.

So, on the edge, you can either:

Either way, the choice is yours. “When you are favored and anointed, regardless of what you do, God will either be with you here or go with you there” — but He will be WITH YOU nonetheless.
